Exercise

 

1. Sengothai bought a school bag for ₹. 210.30 and a sports shoe for 260.20 find the amount to be returned by the shopkeeper if she has paid five hundred rupees to the shopkeeper.

Adding Rupees

Cost of the bag = ₹ 210. 30

Cost of sports shoe = ₹ 260. 20

Total cost = ₹ 470. 50

Subtracting Rupees

Sengothai paid = ₹ 500. 00

Total cost = ₹470. 00

Shopkeeper has to return = ₹30. 00

Amount returned by shopkeeper to Sengothai = ₹ 30

 

2. Kumaran’s father asked him to get a change for ₹ 200 from his uncle. If his uncle gave him a hundred rupee note and a fifty rupees note. How much more his uncle has to give him?

Adding Rupees

Uncle gave = ₹ 100

                    = ₹ 50

Total = ₹ 150

Subtracting Rupees

Father gave = ₹ 200.00

Uncle gave = ₹ 150. 00

Uncle has to give him = ₹ 50. 00

His uncle has to give him = ₹ 50
